THE GOOD NEWS IS WE ARE IN SCOTLAND AFTER A 3 HOUR LAYOVER IN HEATHROW AIRPORT IN LONDON. MORE TO COME, GOT A TOUR NOW.
Most of us are so accustomed to routines that we don’t realize how much they affect our lives. It’s only when those routines are so drastically changed that we miss them. When they are changed it’s like having a handful of hair pulled from our head.
Boy did our routines change Sunday, Sept. 23 when we departed home to begin our trip to Europe.
I’m talking going from getting a good night’s sleep, to eating at normal times but even more drastic changing from a 12 hour day to a 24 hour day. Here’s how the day went.
We arose Sunday a little earlier than normal to put last things in our suitcases. We normally would be getting read for Sunday morning bible study and church. We were fully packed and the car loaded by 8:30.
We had prayed for a while about our trip and we knew God was on top of everything (as He always is) when we hopped in the car. When the car started, the song Vaya con Dios was playing. That’s Spanish for God go with you.
We drove to Raleigh, where we had rented a parking place at a Public Storage instead of parking at the very expensive airport lots. Just before grabbing an Uber ride to the airport we grabbed lunch at Biscuitville and waited for our flight to Edinburgh to arrive.
Going through security was fairly easy since we had gotten the pre check done this summer which is good for five years. We were a little surprised that no one checked the size of our luggage. We decided to take one carry on, a wheeled suitcase, and a personal backpack each. Didn’t even have to take out our clear bag of liquids.
The only problem at RDU was our boarding passes said our flight left from American Airlines Gate D20. Of course this was the last one at the end of that D concourse at Terminal 2. So with our backpacks and wheeled suitcases we walked down there.
Some time later we got a notification from American that the Gate had been changed toC23. And that Gate was all the way at the other end of Terminal 2.
One response to “9-24-24 Whew, what a day”
Yes! We DO like our routines and the older we get the more we like them! We are thankful that so far things are going well and look forward to hearing more soon!!
